Everything has probably already been said and written about bangers. They’ve been known for centuries, and although their purpose has changed over the last few years, the question pyrotechnicians hear most often to this day is: what are the best bangers? Before we answer that, we’ll briefly touch on a topic that’s been on every pyrotechnics fan’s mind this year. So, by way of introduction… Will bangers still be produced? From the beginning of this year, there have been rumors that this is the end of the bangers we know. And although in the last five years numerous regulatory changes have hit this group of pyrotechnic materials the hardest, 2020 may indeed mark the beginning of their end. In recent years, the introduction of new certification has forced many changes on manufacturers and importers. First, the required ignition method for bangers changed. We said goodbye to the scratch-ignition bangers we knew from childhood, which were replaced by fuse-lit bangers. While that issue was strictly about user safety, the next one wasn’t entirely clear at first. Namely, the permissible amount of pyrotechnic mixture was significantly reduced. In colloquial terms—bangers were supposed to be much quieter. Bangers vs. sound emitters In response to these changes, a new pyrotechnic product called a sound emitter was introduced. The main differences between a sound emitter and a banger are, first, the volume level and power, and second, the intended use. Additionally, among emitters you’ll also find some that are scratch-ignited. Remember that emitters are for specialist use only, e.g., in agriculture or battlefield reenactments. Back to… After these changes, no one really expected anything else to happen with bangers… until faint whispers reached us from Chinese factories. There are various, not entirely clear, versions, but what we know for sure is that in the near future no more powerful bangers will be shipped from China to Europe. We can now confirm information that limits the content of the pyrotechnic mixture. That may not sound ominous unless you consider that the amount is to match the power of classic piccolo (corsair) bangers… Are these all our favorite bangers? No. So why aren’t we giving you a broader cross-section of our favorite products? The answer is simple. When we give recommendations, we always present products whose quality and power we’re confident in. That’s why you won’t find the much-liked Funke bangers in this list. We don’t know what quality to expect in new deliveries, and given the problems the entire industry is facing, we can’t give them the benefit of the doubt this time. EXPLODER 4 – TP4 – sound emitter (link) This is definitely our No. 1 product this year. The package contains 12 really powerful sound emitters. They look like Crazy Robots bangers and definitely match them in power. These are emitters for people who know how to handle them, because they pack a serious punch. 2. EXPLODER 5 – TP5 – sound emitter (link) Like the TP4, these Exploders reference the famous Triplex product, the Matabrujas sound emitters. Fortunately, they match them in power, so anyone who likes the ground to shake beneath their feet can confidently go for this choice—and we guarantee you won’t be disappointed. 3. ACHTUNG – H4A – banger (link) Although Achtung H4 aspires to be the successor to Crazy Robots bangers, it isn’t. Even so, it’s in our lineup because, considering the number of bangers per pack and their price, it’s still a great choice. In addition to a strong bang, their size and build quality are also a plus. 4. DUM BUM P6A11 – banger (link) Dum Bum is a brand unto itself. However, be careful when choosing these bangers, because despite labels that look the same, the quality you get can vary a lot. Several versions are currently circulating on the market, and the price difference can reach even 20 PLN per pack. So remember, in this case the price says it all. 5. MEGATRON – 203P – sound emitter (link) Megatrons are among the most famous Czech sound emitters. They combine the best of everything: a massive bang, striking power, and a size reminiscent of classic Achtungs. 6. XXL BANGING BALL – P1103 – banger (link) This has been our HIT since 2015. The pack of very unassuming-looking bangers contains as many as 120 really loud plastic balls. Fuse-lit—they’ll satisfy every pyrotechnics fan. We also have to mention the price, which is around 0.30 PLN per ball. If that’s not the perfect combo, we don’t know what is! 7. C4 – PXP309 – banger (link) Some of the best bangers in the classic FP3 class available in Poland. Add a really low price for 20 bangers—what more could you want? 8. FP3 Big – banger (link) Let’s be honest: ever since FP3 bangers got certified, they’ve lost power. Now let’s take a deep breath and accept that. Okay? Right, moving on. FP3s are still great bangers in their price and quality group. You can’t deny their consistency and build quality. They’re still excellent for uses where you don’t need your eardrums to burst. 9. BLACK DEATH – 1065 – banger (link) Bangers that need no introduction to fans of powerful bangs. Despite rumors that Black Death has lost some power, we strongly deny it. The slightly updated artwork doesn’t affect their impact strength at all, and this remains one of the strongest options in Europe. 10. TRUENO ESPECIAL No. 6 – banger (link) The smallest Spanish bangers offered by Jorge. Although there are only 10 pieces in a pack, their power will satisfy anyone. These bangers differ from classic ones primarily in appearance. Compared to other Spanish bangers available, their price is also relatively low. Are these all our favorite bangers? No. So why aren’t we giving you a broader cross-section of our favorite products? The answer is simple.
