How the Yellow Smoke Mine 40MM works in practice After ignition you get about 10 seconds of intense yellow smoke. It’s short, and that’s the point. The mine ejects the smoke mixture in a single burst, producing a dense, saturated cloud that disperses slowly. On a windless day the yellow patch will linger in the air for several seconds after the charge has burned out. With winds over 10 km/h the effect will be shorter and more stretched out, so plan ignition from a sheltered position. Where Jorge’s yellow smoke mine is useful The electric igniter means you connect it to a firing module — manual or radio. That’s why this product is aimed mainly at people doing shows, photo shoots and film productions, where synchronization matters. You fire it precisely when the actor steps into frame or when the bridal couple stands on the marked spot. Yellow contrasts well against dark backgrounds — forest, dark wall, evening sky just after sunset. 1. Photo shoots: 10 seconds is enough for 2–3 shots with fast shooting. For film that’s about 250 frames at 25 fps — enough for one pass of an actor through the smoke. 2. Safety with the Yellow Smoke Mine 40MM The smoke mixture can stain the surface within about a meter of the ignition point — do not place on light concrete or wooden deck boards. The smoke does not stain clothing, but standing directly in the cloud for a prolonged time is not recommended. Ignite in open space, at least 2 meters away from posing people.
