How to choose a tube for a pyrotechnic shell?
The most important parameter is the caliber, that is, the diameter of the pyrotechnic tube. The tube must be properly matched to the caliber of the pyrotechnic shell being used. It is not chosen on a “roughly fits” basis. For a specific charge caliber you should use a tube designed for that exact size.
Calibers of pyrotechnic shells and tubes are often given in inches. Therefore, before purchasing it is worth checking the designation of the shells you use and selecting the correct tube size for them. You can find information about the caliber in the product specifications.
Are used pyrotechnic tubes a good choice?
Yes. Pyrotechnic tubes are reusable equipment and are used repeatedly during professional productions. The fact that a tube was previously used does not mean it is unfit for further use.
The tubes available in our offer are used but are in good technical condition. For this kind of equipment, technical condition and absence of damage affecting safe use and correct fit with the intended charge are far more important than external appearance.
What should you check before using a pyrotechnic tube?
Before each use you should check the tube’s technical condition and make sure it has no cracks, severe deformations, or other damage. The tube should also be clean and prepared for use according to its intended purpose.
Proper preparation and stabilization of the demonstration setup and maintaining required safety zones are also important. Pyrotechnic tubes are part of professional equipment and should be used in accordance with the rules applicable to show productions and the requirements for the charges used.
What are pyrotechnic mortars used for?
A pyrotechnic mortar is simply a tube intended for launching a specific type of pyrotechnic shell. Once a properly matched charge is placed inside, the tube determines the launch direction and forms part of the prepared demonstration setup.
These types of tubes are primarily used by pyrotechnicians and companies conducting professional fireworks displays. Depending on the show design they may be used individually or mounted in larger arrays and racks prepared for particular calibers and effects.
What is the difference between a pyrotechnic tube and a fireworks launcher?
A fireworks launcher is a ready-made product containing a certain number of effects combined into one set. After the launcher is expended, the product is not reloaded.
A pyrotechnic tube, on the other hand, is a reusable piece of equipment. It does not contain a pyrotechnic effect itself—it serves to launch appropriately matched pyrotechnic shells during professional productions.
